Wellness Exams for Pets in Youngsville
There’s no such thing as one-size-fits-all veterinary care at Heartwood Animal Hospital. We provide completely customized wellness exams and veterinary care to each and every one of our patients, tailoring their treatment needs based on their environment, lifestyle, age, breed, health condition, and more.

Dog Wellness Exams
When determining a treatment plan for your canine friend, we consider all important factors. For example, for smaller dogs like Dachshunds and Chihuahuas, care will be much different from the recommendations we have for larger breeds like Labrador Retrievers and German Shepherds.
During your dog’s annual wellness exam, you can expect them to be examined from nose to tail, and everything in between. We will use the opportunity to discuss health concerns including:
- Exercise
- Nutritional needs for your dog based on his/her health, weight, and lifestyle
- Best prevention guidelines for fleas, ticks, heartworms, intestinal parasites, and mites
- Vaccinations including Rabies, Distemper/Parvo/Hepatitis/Parainfluenza, Bordetella, Leptospirosis, Lyme, and Canine Influenza
- Wellness labwork including CBC, blood chemistry, heartworm and tick disease testing, urinalysis, and thyroid dependent on the age and needs of your dog
Cat Wellness Exams
When determining a treatment plan for your feline friend, we consider all of the necessary important factors. For example, cats that spend their lives indoors will have different needs from cats that spend their lives outdoors. Also, the more exotic breeds will have different needs from domestic breeds.
When your cat comes in for their annual wellness exam, we ensure that our animal hospital is ready to accommodate the special needs of our feline patients. Our veterinary team is committed to providing a calming environment by dimming lights, keeping the area quiet, and handling felines with appropriate cat-handling techniques. We will also work closely with you to discuss health concerns such as:
- Nutritional needs for your cat based on his/her health, weight, and lifestyle
- Best prevention guidelines for fleas, ticks, heartworms, intestinal parasites, and mites.
- Vaccinations, such as Rabies, Leukemia, and FVRCP
- Wellness labwork including CBC, blood chemistry, FIV/leukemia/Heartworm, blood pressure, urinalysis, and thyroid dependent on the age and needs of your cat
